MoP issues short-term power procurement guidelines for discoms

The MoP has issued guidelines for the procurement of power by distribution licensees for the short term – a period of over one day to one year. The guidelines aim to facilitate transparency and fairness in the procurement process through the introduction of a system of e-tendering and e-reverse auction. The move is likely to promote competition in the procurement of electricity by disoms and reduce their power purchase costs.
