Patiala Municipal Corporation in Punjab has invited tenders for implementation of the Patiala Solid Waste Management Project. The last date for bid submission is set as November 15, 2016. The project will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 billion. It will include door to door collection, segregated storage of the municipal waste, and transportation of the garbage from the storage point to processing plant for a period of 25 years. Moreover, a common sanitary landfill site for disposing the processed waste will also be constructed. Further, the civic agency will also allow the selected developer to generate compost power and other by-products from the waste, depending upon the technology used for the purpose. The entire project will have a capacity to treat 440 tonnes per day (tpd) of solid waste from Patiala and 21 other municipal committees under the Patiala and Sangrur districts.
