APTEL upholds VIPL’s appeal seeking fuel pass-through

The Appellate Tribunal for Electricity has upheld Vidarbha Industries Power Limited’s (VIPL) appeal seeking fuel cost pass-through in tariff for its 600 MW coal-based plant at Butibori in Maharashtra. The tribunal has directed the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) to rework the fuel cost pass-through for the plant. VIPL, a subsidiary of Reliance Power Limited, had challenged the MERC’s order dated June 20, 2016 wherein the commission had partially disallowed the pass-through for 2014-15 and 2015-16.
