CERC issues a report on transmission planning, connectivity, LTA, MTOA and other related issues

The committee appointed by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission to review transmission planning, connectivity, long-term access, medium-term open access and other related issues has submitted its recommendations in a report to the commission. The report discusses issues pertaining to the planning of the transmission network, general network access and technical aspects to be considered in the planning of interstate transmission systems, etc. The committee has suggested an overhaul in transmission planning to facilitate the transfer of power on economic principles. It has also suggested that transmission planning be aligned with customer aspirations, as opposed to the existing system where transmission is linked with long-term power purchase agreements.
