Maharashtra government approves Nashik’s sewage treatment plant

The Government of Maharashtra has approved the construction of a sewage treatment plant (STP) in Gangapur, Nashik. The STP is expected to have a capacity to treat 18 mld of sewage. Further, it will be constructed at an investment of Rs 290 million, which will be provided by the state government. However, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) is also expected to incur Rs 62.5 million for the operation and maintenance of the plant. At present, NMC has acquired 3.25 hectares of land at Gangapur for the project. The STP is being constructed under AMRUT and is expected to be operational in 2019.
