Foundation stone laid for the Berhampur mega water supply project

The Government of Odisha has laid the foundation stone for development of the Rs 5.82 billion mega water supply project for Berhampur. Under it, water will be drawn from the Jabibili diversion wire through a 46-km long underground pipeline network. It will serve about 851,000 consumers across the Behrampur town and 52 villages in the Aska, Hinjili, Sheragada and Kukudakhandi regions of the district. The scope of project works also involve construction of a 60 million litre per day (mld) water treatment plant at Jagadalapur, 10 overhead reservoirs, 17 underground reservoirs, and laying of a 232 km-long distribution network.  The project is scheduled to be completed by November 2018.
