Four municipalities in Maharashtra to implement sewage management works by end-2018

The Maharashtra government is planning to undertake sewage management works across four municipalities under AMRUT. The scope of work includes construction of STPs and rehabilitation of sewage networks. The projects are expected to be implemented between May 2017 and December 2018 across all four regions. Under this, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation will undertake replacement and augmentation works of old sewage lines and connect household sewer lines to STPs. The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation and the Municipal Councils of Kulgaon-Badlapur and Ambernath will also undertake sewage management works under the project. The move comes as a bid to clean the Ulhas river, which flows through the state. Further, the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) plans to lay a sewage disposal line by 2019. The tender process for the same has been initiated by MIDC.
