GHMC in Telangana has signed a MoU with Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) for solid waste management (SWM) within the Greater Hyderabad limits. Under the agreement, GCPL will fund the development of 10 ‘swachh’ centres for dry waste management. In addition, it will partly fund development of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) plants and plastic waste recycling plants. These processing plants will treat waste generated from Resident Welfare Associations in the city and swachh centers. The land for developing the swachh centers will be allocated by the civic aghency and it will also provide about 10,000 square feet of area for construction of the 20 tonnes per day RDF plant.
