The Ministry of Coal (MoC) has launched the Coal Mitra web portal in order to provide flexibility in the utilisation of domestic coal by allowing the transfer of coal reserves to more cost-efficient generating stations. The web portal will be used by state and central gencos to display information about the normative fixed and variable charges of electricity for the previous month as well as the margin available for additional generation so as to enable the utilities identify stations for the transfer of coal. It will also host data for operational and financial parameters of each coal-based station, the quantity and source of coal supply to the power plant and distance of the power plant from the coal mine.
