Foundation stone laid for waste-to-energy plant in Jamnagar

The Government of Gujarat has laid the foundation stone for a waste-to-energy project in Jamnagar. The proposed plant will be equipped to generate 5 MW of electricity from 250 tonnes of solid waste on a daily basis. The project will be implemented by the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation at an investment of Rs 750 million. At present, there is no solid waste processing facility in the city and the waste is simply being disposed off in open dumping grounds.
