The Expert Appraisal Committee under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has recommended green clearances for the 3,097 MW Etalin hydroelectric project (HEP) in Arunachal Pradesh and the 1,860 MW Sawalkote HEP in Jammu & Kashmir. While the former is being developed by Etalin Hydro Electric Power Company Limited, a joint venture (JV) between Jindal Power Limited and Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Limited, the latter is being developed by the state utility.
