The MoEFCC’s Expert Appraisal Committee has accorded approval for the setting up of the 624 MW Kiru hydroelectric project on the Chenab river at Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir. The project, comprising four units of 156 MW each, will have a construction period of 54 months and entail an investment of Rs 46.41 billion. The project will be developed by Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited, a joint venture between NHPC Limited, JKPDD and PTC India Limited.
