The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned 893 water supply augmentation works to mitigate drought conditions in the state. The works have been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 212.9 million. Of these, 30 projects will be executed in Tiruchirappalli, 10 in Thuraiyur, 22 in Manapparai, two in Thuvakudi and 153 in town panchayats. Besides these, village panchayats will execute 594 water supply projects, and the remaining 82 projects will be implemented by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board.
