Bhandwari solid waste management plant to be revived

The Government of Haryana has announced a project to revive the Bhandwari solid waste management plant in Gurgaon by July 2019. The preliminary works on the plant are likely to commence by October 2017. The project is estimated to cost Rs 4.3 billion and will be executed by Ecogreen Energy Private Limited, a subsidiary of China Jinjiang Environment Holding Company Limited. It will be implemented on a design-build-finance-operate-transfer basis. The scope of works will involve collection, transportation, processing, and disposal of over 1,250 tonnes per day of waste from the cities of Gurgaon and Faridabad. The plant is expected to generate about 10 MW of energy per day using refuse derived fuel combustion technology in the treatment process. In this regard, the municipal corporations of Gurgaon and Faridabad have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for project execution.
