Gujarat government floats tender to procure 1,000 MW of coal-based power

The Gujarat government has floated a tender to procure 1,000 MW of power from coal-based plants willing to sell electricity at a tariff less than Rs 2.82 per unit. The state will provide the coal allocated to Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited to the selected developers under a reverse auction which will be held on September 8, 2017. Following the reverse auction, coal earmarked for state power generating units will be transferred to more fuel-efficient private power plants which will sell electricity to the state from October 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018.
