Sewage treatment plant inaugurated at Amritsar

The Punjab government has inaugurated a 95 million litres per day (mld) sewage treatment plant (STP) at Khapar Kheri in Amritsar. Treated sewage from the plant will be released to the farmers for irrigation purposes. The plant will also produce treated sludge as a by-product of the sewage treatment process. This will be provided to farmers for use as fertiliser. Both the treated sewage and sludge will be provided free of cost.
