The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) has planned a $60 billion investment for creating gas infrastructure in the country till 2024. This includes pipelines, LNG terminals and CGD networks. With this, the share of gas in the energy mix is expected to rise to 15 per cent by 2030. Currently, gas accounts for 6 per cent in the country’s total energy mix. The coverage of CGD projects is being expanded to 232 geographical areas across 400 districts, with a potential to cover about 53 per cent of the country’s geography and 70 per cent of the population.
