Bombay High Court suspends tender process for privatising discom in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu UT

The Bombay High Court has suspended the tender process for the privatisation of a discom in the Union Territories of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, in a public interest litigation case. On February 20, 2021, Torrent Power was announced as the highest bidder for the sale of a 51 per cent stake in the discom. The discom’s annual revenues are around Rs 45 billion, and it sells around 9,000 MUs of electricity every year to 0.15 million consumers.
