In a notable development, two compressed natural gas (CNG) pumps were inaugurated in Kolkata on March 22, 2021. While Indian Oil Corporation Limited has set up a pump in New Town, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has installed one in Garia. With this, Kolkata joined the league of cities having clean automotive fuel.
