The union cabinet has approved a Rs 45 billion production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme to enhance the domestic manufacturing capacity of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules. The scheme aims to promote manufacturing capacity of gigawatt scale in high efficiency solar PV modules. Solar PV manufacturers will be selected through a transparent competitive bidding process. The PLI will be disbursed for five years post commissioning of manufacturing plants, on sales of high efficiency solar PV modules.
