Uttar Pradesh cabinet approves revised proposal for Gaizuddin Haider canal sewage treatment plant project

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on June 14, 2021 approved a revised proposal for the implementation of the Gaizuddin Haider (GH) canal sewage treatment plant (STP) project. The new proposal includes the development of an STP with a capacity of 120 million litres per day (mld) at the GH canal under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban transformation scheme, at a revised cost of Rs 2,975.3 million. Of the total project cost, the centre, the state and Lucknow Nagar Nigam will bear Rs 885.3 million, Rs 1,290 million and Rs 800 million respectively. The project is being implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam in Lucknow in order to prevent dirt falling into the Gomti river.
