MoP issues order to dissolve regional power committees (transmission planning) in order to fast-track ISTS expansion

The MoP has issued an order to dissolve the five regional power committees (transmission planning) (RPC-TP) to ease the process of expansion of the inter-state transmission system (ISTS). Under the previous system, two simultaneous consultations were carried out with the regional power committee (RPC) and the RPC-TP for the implementation of ISTS, which made the process cumbersome and delayed the process of planning and approval. This was not suitable for renewable energy development in the country. Therefore, a decision has been taken to dissolve the five RPC-TPs, and only RPCs will be consulted for planning of the ISTS system.
