MoF grants approval for implementation of Nag River Pollution Abatement Project

The Expenditure Finance Committee, Ministry of Finance, granted appro­val for the implementation of the Nag River pollution abatement project on October 27, 2021. The project involves the rejuvenation of the Nag and Pili rivers by laying 1,362.5 km long sewage lines in the north and central sewage zones, the construction of three new sewage treatment plants (STPs) of a total capacity of 72 million litres per day (mld) at Shankar Nagar, Morbhavan bus stand and Martin Nagar. Further, three existing STPs at Mokshadham, Mankapur and NIT will be incorporated into the project and storm water will be filtered before letting it into the two rivers. Nagpur Environmental Services Limited, a fully owned SPV of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, will be implementing the project. It will be executed over a period of eight years.
