Construction work on the Manori desalination plant project is likely to be completed by 2024. Work on the pre-feasibility study of the project has been completed. The project, being implemented by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, involves the setting up of a desalination plant with 200 million litres per day of capacity at Manori in Mumbai. It entails an investment of Rs 16 billion under the Swiss challenge method. It will be developed on 25-30 acres of land. It is expected to be completed by 2025.
