Uttarakhand government ordered NGT to ensure no untreated waste is dumped into Ganga

The Uttarakhand government has been ordered by the National Green Tribunal to ensure that no untreated waste is dumped into the Ganga or its tributaries, and that suitable measures are taken for the state’s STPs. To ensure that no untreated garbage is released into the Ganga, a public awareness campaign and a monitoring cell must be established at the municipal level. All Ganga bank towns and villages must adhere to the septage protocol as well as flood protection zone rules. Septic tank evacuations must be linked to pre-identified STPs.
