MoP releases revised consolidated guidelines and standards for EV charging infrastructure

The MoP has released revised consolidated guidelines and standards for charging infrastructure for EVs. The guidelines are exhaustive and include provisions for individual EV owners as well as public charging stations (PCSs). Any individual entity is free to set up a PCS without the requirement of a licence, such that stations meet the technical, safety as well as performance standards and protocols. A revenue sharing model has been put in place for land use for making a charging station financially viable. Timelines for providing connectivity for the installation of PCSs have been prescribed as per the Electricity (Rights of Consumers). Meanwhile, the tariff for supply of electricity to PCSs will be a single-part tariff and will not exceed the average cost of supply till March 31, 2025.
