The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to implement the potable “water for all” policy from May 1, 2022. Under this policy, water will be provided to every citizen in Mumbai, including people staying on footpaths and roads, and also to the previously excluded slum dwellers, residential areas and buildings. The policy will help curb illegal water connections and water contamination, apart from protecting an individual’s fundamental rights.
