UP adds a new dimension to Namami Gange Programme

Uttar Pradesh (UP) plans to add a new dimension to the Namami Gange Programme. The government intends to revive the extinct wells and convert them into recharging wells. The plan also includes recharging of ponds and establishment of village forests on the banks of the ponds. It also includes the rejuvenation of 19 out of the 22 tributaries of the Gomti river that have dried up. Social and government organisations such as Lok Bharti and the Nehru Yuva Kendra are collaboratively launching a campaign for the awareness of citizens and revival of rivers. This campaign is scheduled from April 6, 2022 to May 3, 2022.
