Delhi to supply 1,000 mgd of drinking water during summer season in 2022

The Delhi government is planning to supply around 1,000 million gallons per day (mgd) of drinking water during the summer season in 2022. This increase from the earlier allocation of 935 mgd is required to meet the rising demand for water in the capital region. The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) plans to deploy a total of 1,198 water tankers across the city during the period April to July 2022. This will help prevent the water scarcity situation in the city. Depending upon the requirement in the city, the trips of the tankers will be optimised to supplement the demand in water-deficient areas and regions lacking piped water supply. DJB has also replaced old pipelines and fixed leakages to minimise water loss and contamination.
