Central government inaugurates gas pipeline for domestic, industrial use

The central government has inaugurated the 533 km Bokaro-Angul gas pipeline section in Jharkhand and Odisha for both domestic and indust­rial use. The project is expected to provide cheap gas to homes as well as businesses such as energy-based transport, electricity, fertiliser, food processing and cold storage. The Bokaro-Angul pipeline section covers 243 km in Jharkhand and 290 km in Odisha. The project has been built at an investment of Rs 25 billion. Post-commissioning, the total Jagdish­pur-Haldia and Bokar-Dhamra pipeline network, including the Bokaro-Angul pipeline section, will have the capacity to carry 16 million cubic metres per day of natural gas.
