Ludhiana to construct OHSRs under 24X7 bulk water supply project

The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation is likely to construct 139 overhead service reservoirs (OHSRs) under the 24×7 Ludhiana Bulk Water Supply Project. The project, being implemented under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transmission, involves the collection of water from the Sidhwan canal and its supply to the city through a network of pipelines after treating it in the two water treatment plants (WTPs) at an estimated cost of Rs 33,944.5 million. It is being funded by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the World Bank. It will be implemented in two phases. Phase I will include the construction of a 580 mld capacity WTP in Bilga village to treat surface water and a 165 km water supply line will be laid along the canal for supplying water from the WTP to the OHSRs.
