PMC commenced construction work on 11 STPs under Mutha and Mula river project

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has commenced work on the construction of 11 sewage treatment plants (STPs) under the Mula-Mutha river restoration project in Maharashtra. These 11 STPs will have a total estimated capacity of 396 mld and will cater to the estimated wa­ter usage in 2027. The project also involves the construction of a sew­age carrier pipeline. The construction period is three years, followed by 15 years of operation and maintenance. PMC is implementing the pro­je­ct to reduce pollution, at an estimated investment of Rs 14.7 billion, under the National River Conservation Plan with financial assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency. It is expected to be commissioned within three years.
