The central government has approved Namami Gange Mission-II, with a budgetary outlay of Rs 225 billion till the year 2026. This includes projects for existing liabilities worth Rs 112.25 billion, and new projects and interventions worth Rs 112.75 billion. Funds worth Rs 140.85 billion have been released by the government to the National Mission for Clean Ganga for the period from financial year 2014-15 to January 31, 2023. Of this, Rs 136.07 billion has been released by the NMCG to state governments and other agencies for implementing projects related to Ganga rejuvenation. According to the Ministry of Jal Shakti, as of December 2022, a total of 409 projects worth Rs 329.14 billion have been taken up, of which 232 have been completed and made operational.
