Odisha allocates Rs 132.15 billion for piped drinking water

Under the State Budget 2023-24, the Odisha government has allocated funds worth Rs 132.15 billion for providing piped drinking water in rural areas in the state. In addition to this, the fund allocation includes Rs 47.5 billion for the “Buxi Jagabandhu assured drinking water to all habitation scheme”, Rs 57.5 billion for the JJM and Rs 2.69 billion for the opera­tions and maintenance of water supply systems. Besides this, 691 directly af­fected villages in eight mineral-bearing districts will be provided with piped water supply at an estimated cost of Rs 21.27 billion under the Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation funds and Rs 5.88 billion under the District Mineral Foundation.
