In the state budgets for 2023-24, the Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh governments have allocated funds worth Rs 253.5 billion and Rs 73.32 billion, respectively, for the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) under the National Rural Drinking Water Mission. The mission aims to provide domestic tap water connections for clean drinking water supply to all households.
