More than 118.4 million rural households provided with tap water connections under JJM

As of April 27, 2023, more than 118.4 million rural households have been provided tap water connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). This accounts for 60.87 per cent of rural households that will have functional tap water supply. An amount of Rs 700 billion has been allocated under the Union Budget 2023-24 for the implementation of the programme. This has been achieved in a short period of less than four years, with 86 million more rural households being provided tap water connections since 2019. Additionally, Tamil Nadu has provided 5.9 million tap water connections to rural households under the JJM as of May 3, 2023. Kancheepuram and Ranipet districts in the state have achieved 100 per cent coverage of functional tap water connections with 0.22 million and 0.19 million rural households covered respectively.
