Government notifies waiver of ISTS charges for offshore wind and green hydrogen projects

In continuation of the order granting a waiver of interstate transmission system (ISTS) charges to solar and wind energy sources, the Ministry of Power (MoP) has issued an addendum granting the waiver to offshore wind projects and green hydrogen/green ammonia. A complete waiver of ISTS charges has been granted for offshore wind power projects commissioned on or before December 31, 2032 for a period of 25 years from the date of commissioning of the project. Offshore projects commissioned from January 1, 2033 will attract graded ISTS charges. The government has also granted complete waiver of ISTS charges for a period of 25 years from the date of commissioning of the project, for green hydrogen/green ammonia production units using renewable energy (commissioned after March 8, 2019), pumped storage systems, or battery storage systems or any hybrid combination of these technologies. Projects commissioned on or before December 31, 2030 will be eligible for this waiver and graded ISTS charges will apply thereafter.
