PNGRB initiates study for hydrogen transmission in natural gas

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), in collaboration with the World Bank, has initiated a study for hydrogen transmission in natural gas pipelines and City Gas Distribution networks. The study involves mapping demand and supply of hydrogen, technical assessments of the existing pipeline networks for their compatibility, commercial assessments of the pipeline sector, identifying bottlenecks in policy and regulatory frameworks and framing roadmap milestones until 2040 for the expeditious implementation of hydrogen blending in the country. The study is likely to be completed within 16 weeks.
