Assam government inaugurates Leechubagan reservoir under South Guwahati West Water Supply Scheme

The Government of Assam has inaugurated the Leechubagan reservoir under the South Guwahati West Water Supply Scheme on October 15, 2023. The Leechubagan distribution network is expected to provide water to 20,000 households. The project will be commissioned in three phases, along with the Ramsahill reservoir zone. The project is being implemented by the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority and involves the construction of a raw water abstraction intake point in the West Kamakhya ar­ea; a water treatment plant (WTP) with a capacity of 107 mld at Sadilapur, near Saraighat bridge; and a pump house, at an estimated cost of Rs 4.07 billion.
