Five firms win licenses for eight GAs under 12 and 12A CGD bidding round

A total of five firms have won licences for the development of city gas distribution (CGD) networks in eight geographical areas (GAs) under rounds 12 and 12A of CGD bidding. The successful bidders under round 12 include a joint venture (JV) of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Oil India Limited (OIL) for the Arunachal Pradesh GA, Haryana City Gas for the Meghalaya GA, BPCL for the Jammu & Kashmir GA, Tripura Natural Gas Company Limited (TNGCL) for the Manipur GA, a JV of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and OIL for the Nagaland GA, HPCL for the Sikkim GA and BPCL for the Ladakh GA. The bids for the same were invited by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) in October 2023. In addition, TNGCL won a licence for the Mizoram GA, the bid for which was invited by the PNGRB in November 2023. The anticipated investment for the 12th bidding round is around Rs 410 billion.
