The Rajkot Municipal Corporation has scrapped the implementation of the 24×7 metered water supply project at West Rajkot in Gujarat. Despite installing about 14,000 water meters at a cost of Rs 53.5 million, it failed to achieve 24×7 water supply. Due to this, the standing committee rejected the proposal to renew the contract for water meter maintenance and has officially scrapped the project. The original plan included laying a pipeline from the Nyari Dam with a storage capacity of 26.74 million cubic metres. The project aimed to replace the existing water pipeline network and standardise the system to eliminate all water pressure-related issues at a cost of Rs 3 billion. The project was being funded by the Asian Development Bank.
