The trial run has commenced on the Fatehnagar and Khajakunta sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Hyderabad, Telangana, on June 29, 2024. These STPs are a part of the 31 STPs being developed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board on a PPP-based hybrid annuity mode in three packages. This will augment the capacity of sewage treatment in the city. Package I includes the construction of eight STPs with a capacity of 402.5 million litres per day (mld), Package II includes the construction of sic STPs with a capacity of 480.5 mld under Phase II and Package III involves the construction of 17 STPs with a capacity of 376.5 mld under Phase I.
