Construction work on four sewerage projects completed under the Namami Gange Programme 2.0

The construction work on four sewerage projects has been completed under the Namami Gange Programme 2.0. These are the Munger sewerage project, the Mirzapur sewerage project, the Ghazipur sewerage project and the Bareilly Sewerage project. The Munger Sewerage project involved the development of a 175 km sewerage network and the construction of a 30 mld sewage treatment plant (STP) at Munger in Bihar at the cost of Rs 3.66 billion. The Mirzapur sewerage project aimed at reducing pollution in the Ganga river at Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh by intercepting nine drains and rehabilitating six existing drain interception structures. It involved the construction of two STPs, namely, Pakka Pokhra and Bisunderpur, each with a capacity of 8.5 mld. Additionally, the rehabilitation of existing STPs increased the sewage treatment capacity to 31 mld. The cost of the project is Rs 1.29 billion. The Ghazipur sewerage project involved interception, diversion and treatment works for the abatement of pollution in the Ganga river at a cost of Rs 1.53 billion. It involved the development of a 1.3 km interception and diversion (I&D) network and a 21 mld STP at Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh. The Bareilly sewerage project involved the I&D of 15 drains and the construction of three STPs with a combined capacity of 63 mld at Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh at a cost of Rs 2.71 billion.
