The government of Kerala has formed a committee to assess the techno-financial feasibility of Omni Processor technology at Muttathara STP in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. It is expected to be used for the treatment of accumulated faecal sludge and its conversion to clean water and electricity. The project implementation will be funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Developed by Washington-based Janicki Bioenergy, the technology has been licensed by Ankur Scientific Private Limited which will implement the project in Kerala. The committee will have representation from Suchitwa Mission, Pollution Control Board, the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, Kerala State Waste Management Project, Kerala Water Authority and NIIST Pappanamcode. A consultant is expected to be engaged to help in obtaining clearance from the Airports Authority of India for installing structures like chimneys.
