The city gas distribution (CGD) industry has been proactive in adopting new and advanced technologies for ensuring sustainable and efficient gas operations. The increasing use of IT-OT convergence solutions is helping companies monitor their critical assets on a real-time basis. Network optimisation through technology, particularly SCADA, has helped CGD entities improve operational efficiency and elevate customer service standards by facilitating remote monitoring and process control from a centralised location. CGD operators are also scaling up efforts towards integrating SCADA systems with geographic information systems (GIS).
In a presentation at the 4th annual conference on Digitalisation of CGD Networks, organised by Indian Infrastructure and Smart Utilities magazines, Sanjay Sah, Partner, Oil & Gas, Digital Transformation, Deloitte, talked about the deployment trends and emerging requirements of cloud-based solutions in CGD networks in India. He also discussed the role of cloud computing, case examples and approach on digital interventions in CGD sector and key benefit areas of digital interventions.
