Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has awarded a project management consultancy services contract worth Rs 2,220 million to Engineers India Limited for the lube modernisation and bottoms upgradation project at the Mumbai refinery in Maharashtra.The work is likely to be completed within 36 months. The project involves capacity expansion of lube oil base stocks (LOBS) production from 475 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) to 764 ktpa with the production of superior-grade Group 11+ and Group III LOBS, increase in bitumen production by 487 ktpa and upgradation of fuel oil to bitumen at the Mumbai refinery. It entails an investment of Rs 46.79 billion.
