Initiatives undertaken for ZLD into Ganga river at Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj

Several initiatives have been taken up in Prayagraj to ensure zero liquid discharge (ZLD) into the Ganga river. This includes treatment of wastewater from around 150,000 toilets including soak-pits, fibre-reinforced plastic units and mobile units on a daily basis. In order to ensure efficient sanitation services, a QR code-based surveillance system has been set up to ensure real-time maintenance. Also, technologies such as jet spray cleaning technology and eco-friendly chemical solutions are aiding in the maintenance of hygiene and odour-free sanitation facilities. For an effective liquid waste management, 94 suction machines have also been installed.
