The Public Works Department, Delhi, has undertaken a successful trial of an advanced recycler machine in Greater Kailash area in Delhi. The innovative solution automates the cleaning of sewer, extraction of silt and treatment and reuse of wastewater without the need for manual intervention. The government of Delhi is planning to roll out this solution throughout Delhi in phases to enhance sewer management and mitigate waterlogging issues. Reportedly, the extracted wastewater is treated within the machine and can potentially be reused for jetting. The recycler machine eliminates the need for tankers unlike sucker machines, requires minimal operational space, is faster, more accurate and offers an environment-friendly drain and sewer cleaning mechanism. Besides, CCTV surveillance is likely to be deployed to verify that the cleaning has been properly done.
