The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has installed 25 solar energy based water kiosks out of the 120 planned kiosks under the Green City Mission in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Undertaken in collaboration with the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency, the initiative will aid in reducing the operational costs for BMC and promote the use of renewable energy.
Presently, civil works are ongoing at two sites while structural works have been completed at four sites. The water kiosks deploy smart water management systems and are fitted with advanced water purification systems and smart meters. This will enable real-time surveillance to ensure consumption patterns are monitored and water quality parameters are within prescribed limits.
