About 88 per cent of work on the Barmer refinery-cum-petrochemical project has been completed. As of July 2025, 94-98 per cent of work on 10 key process units has been completed. The project involves setting up a 9 million metric tonnes per annum capacity oil refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in Barmer district, Rajasthan. It is being implemented by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and Rajasthan State Refinery Limited, having equity stakes of 74 per cent and 26 per cent respectively. The refinery will process locally available crude from the oilfields of Cairn India Limited in Rajasthan, along with other categories of fuel. The complex will produce motor fuels aligned with the latest environmental specifications.
